Kominato Railway, a local railway company in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, will hold a pre-opening of its rail bike attraction “Komi-Chari” from June 12 to December 13.
This is a hands-on activity in which participants ride electric-assist bicycles directly on the actual railway tracks along a section of the Kominato Railway Line between Yōrōkeikoku Station and Kazusa-Nakano Station. The round-trip distance is approximately 3.4 kilometers, and the total required time is about 45 minutes, including explanations and a break at the turning point.
The attraction will operate from Friday to Monday and on national holidays. Reservations must be made for groups of 2 to 3 people. The rider operating the electric-assist bicycle must be at least 145 centimeters tall. Elementary school students must be paired with an adult, and riding while holding a child in your arms or on your back is not permitted.
The fee for one “Komi-Chari” rail bike is 4,000 yen (tax included), with a 500-yen discount offered during the pre-opening period. No child fare is available. Payment is cash only; cashless payments and credit cards are not accepted. Reservations are accepted via the website.
There are six time slots per day, each 45 minutes long, starting at 9:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:45 p.m., and 3:45 p.m.
The meeting point is a location about a 9-minute walk from Yōrōkeikoku Station, where parking spaces will be provided. The reception location will be changed from August onward.
