Hotel Metropolitan in Japan will hold the “Suica’s Penguin Summer Festival Summer Buffet” from August 14 to 16.
A festival tower (yagura) will be set up in the banquet hall to create the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese summer festival, and about 25 different dishes including sweets will be offered. In addition, each guest can choose one special dish, with options including roast beef, “Suica’s Penguin American Corn Dog,” and “Suica’s Penguin Uchiwa Fan Cake.”
The buffet menu will feature cold dishes such as tandoori chicken, eel quiche, terrine of summer vegetables, and Japanese soba noodles, as well as hot dishes such as Hotel Metropolitan’s special beef curry with saffron rice and okonomiyaki (savory pancake). Desserts will include crepes, bite-sized candied apples, and churros. Event-exclusive desserts will also be available: “Suica’s Penguin Mint-Flavored White Chocolate Ganache Macaron,” “Suica’s Penguin Brown Sugar Bavarois and Ginger Lemon Jelly,” and “Suica’s Penguin Mango Taiwanese Castella.”
All visitors will receive a “Suica’s Penguin Stick Balloon.” Adult guests will also receive a “Suica’s Penguin Uchiwa Fan,” one lottery draw for a chance to win Suica merchandise, and one drink. Elementary school students will receive a “Suica’s Penguin Stick Balloon” and one try at a yo-yo fishing game, a typical Japanese festival activity. There will also be a prize drawing for guests who pay with Suica, offering a chance to take a commemorative photo with the “Suica’s Penguin Mascot Costume.”
The venue is the 3rd-floor banquet hall “Fuji.” Start times are 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on each day, with only a 12:30 p.m. start on the 16th; all sessions are limited to two hours. Prices, tax included, are 10,000 yen for adults, 4,000 yen for elementary school students, and 2,000 yen for children ages 4 to 6. Reservations will be accepted from noon on July 13, and payment can be made either by Suica on the day or by credit card in advance.
