AirAsia X has changed its corporate name to AirAsia Group. Following approval at the shareholders’ meeting and completion of registration with the Companies Commission of Malaysia, the change became effective on July 2.
Through the integration, the airline aims to build a low-cost network carrier by leveraging its short-haul and medium-haul route networks and optimizing the overall network.
Chairman Jamaludin Ibrahim said, “The shareholders’ approval of the corporate name change reflects their confidence in our vision and strategic direction as a unified airline group. By integrating airlines under the unified AirAsia Group, we will be better positioned to enhance connectivity, provide smoother travel, and deliver greater value to travelers within and outside the region. With the expansion of our fleet, the growth of our route network, and improved connectivity, we are well prepared to unlock new growth opportunities and create greater value for our shareholders, stakeholders, and guests. As global travel continues to shift toward Asia and ASEAN, we are entering this new phase on a strong footing.”
