JR Central to Install Elevators Inside North Ticket Gate at Tokaido Shinkansen Shinagawa Station
Kura Sushi, JR Kyushu, JR West, JR West Japan Marunix, and JR Kyushu Trading have been selling freshly caught fish from Kagoshima Prefecture, transported by Shinkansen, at five Kura Sushi locations in Osaka City since July 2.
Using the “Hayak! Bin” and “Nimossyu!” Shinkansen freight services provided by the JR Kyushu and JR West groups, fresh fish caught and processed in Kagoshima in the morning is delivered to the restaurants on the same day. This is said to be the first time a nationwide conveyor-belt sushi chain has regularly sold fresh fish transported by Shinkansen from Kagoshima. The selection includes striped beakfish, white-edged red snapper, bigfin reef squid, Satsuma amberjack, Japanese sea bass, and nibbled leatherjacket, with fish varieties changing according to the season.
The participating locations are the Joto Imafuku, Sugawara, Sekime, Tenroku Ekimae, and Kyobashi restaurants. Sales begin on Thursday and Saturday evenings each week, with limited quantities available. (Image: Kura Sushi)
