Brand USA Launches First Outdoor Advertising Campaign in Japan
JR East Cross Station will open the “Underground Marunouchi Inside Ticket Gates Area” at GRANSTA Tokyo in mid-September 2026.
The former Marunouchi-zaka area, which closed in January, has been renovated. The previous separate sections for sweets and miscellaneous goods have been integrated into four zones combining food and lifestyle goods under the concept of “FAV ZAKA.” The spatial design is based on the “KAMIYASH-IKI” motif, a reinterpretation of the upper residences that existed in Marunouchi during Japan’s Edo period. A continuous luminous ceiling and design elements above the shops create a sense of unity and depth throughout the passageway.
The area will comprise a total of 26 shops, including 10 new-brand shops and 11 existing shops that will be renovated or rebranded. Of these, 12 will be brands exclusive to Tokyo Station. Examples of tenants include Butter Confectionery Specialty Store Torakodo, TOKYO PASTA STATION, Hobo Techo Store, Fortnum & Mason, A Bite Coffee, and Tokyo Kissaten Merry.
The location is inside the conventional railway ticket gates on the Marunouchi side of the basement first floor of JR Tokyo Station.
