Fauchon Hotel Kyoto will offer its “Melon Summer Afternoon Tea” from August 12 through September 30.
The welcome tea is brewed with “Sennen-sui” (Millennium Water), Kyoto groundwater drawn from the hotel’s well. The sweets selection includes seven items, such as melon shortcake, melon and mango Biz Biz Chocolat, melon à la mode, and a melon soda parfait finished by pouring in Sennen-sui soda. The five savory items include a mint-infused salted melon soup, prosciutto and melon, and a piperade quiche made with stewed bell peppers. Two types of scones, plain and melon, will also be served. Original teas, fruit juices, and coffee are available on a free-flow basis.
The afternoon tea is served at Salon de Thé Fauchon in three time slots between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., with each seating limited to two hours. Prices are 7,000 yen on weekdays and 7,500 yen on weekends and public holidays. An additional 1,200 yen applies to change the beverage to melon champagne.
Grand Café Fauchon will also hold its “Champagne Free-Flow Week” from July 17 through August 31. The offer pairs a course meal with free-flow Fauchon Champagne Brut, produced using the traditional method with secondary fermentation in the bottle. The additional charge is 10,000 yen. All prices include tax and service charges.
