United Airlines will introduce its Boeing 787-9 aircraft featuring the latest “Elevated” cabin interior on a Japan route for the first time.
The aircraft will be deployed on the Tokyo/Narita–Houston route from October 24 (from the following day for departures from Tokyo/Narita), operating daily.
The new United Polaris Studio business class features private suites with doors facing the aisle. Eight seats are installed in a 1-2-1 configuration in the first row of each business-class section. Six of these seats feature a companion ottoman with a seatbelt, a 27-inch 4K monitor, USB-C power, and wireless charging.
Passengers will also be offered Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé champagne, wine pairings, an exclusive inflight dining service including caviar, hooded pajamas and slippers, noise-canceling headphones, an amenity kit, playing cards, and Saks Fifth Avenue bedding. The suites are 25% larger than United Polaris seats.
United Polaris will offer 56 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, upgraded from the previous doorless design to include doors. The seats are equipped with 19-inch 4K monitors.
Premium Economy will offer 35 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, while Economy will offer 188 seats in a 3-3-3 configuration. They will feature 16-inch and 13-inch 4K monitors, respectively. Economy Class seats will have sliding seat cushions.
In addition, Starlink Wi-Fi service will be offered free of charge to MileagePlus members.
The newly configured Boeing 787-9 began operations in April, and United expects to operate a total of 33 aircraft by 2028.
