Satellite Facility on the North Side of Haneda Airport Terminal 1, Set to Begin Service Around Summer 2026
All Nippon Airways (ANA) and avatarin will begin rolling out an initiative from August 21 that uses the “newme” robot to remotely support users at regional airports in Japan.
Based in a back office at Kansai International Airport, staff will centrally handle inquiries received by newme robots placed at regional airports. The system will enable remote assistance even during periods when there are no flight arrivals or departures and only a small number of staff are on site.
The airports covered and launch dates are Hiroshima Airport from August 21, Tsushima Airport from September 3, Tottori Airport from October 1, Nagasaki Airport from October 15, and Komatsu Airport from October 28. One or two units will be installed at each airport.
The initiative follows verification of approximately 25,000 customer service data records collected at Haneda Airport. The trial confirmed that many airport inquiries could be resolved remotely just as effectively as in person, achieving a resolution rate of 98.4%. ANA aims to accumulate data on inquiries at regional airports and quantitatively visualize user needs, thereby improving on-site service capabilities. The company will consider future expansion after assessing the results.
avatarin is a startup company established by ANA Holdings. It develops the remotely operated communication AI robot “newme.”
