Lufthansa will begin offering five hot meal options in Economy Class on short- and medium-haul flights from September 1.
The service will be available on intra-European flights with a duration of two hours or more. The menu includes five options: beef roulade with potato dumplings, chicken teriyaki, tortellini with tomato sauce and zucchini, Dönninghaus currywurst “Die Echte,” and a cheeseburger from HANS IM GLÜCK. The beef roulade, chicken teriyaki, and tortellini meals come with dessert, while the currywurst is served with a bread roll.
Since February 2023, Lufthansa has offered its paid “Onboard Delights” meal, snack, and beverage service in Economy Class on short- and medium-haul flights. The addition of hot meals expands this offering. The meals are available by pre-order only and can be ordered from four weeks up to 24 hours before departure.
Olaf Maute, Head of Hospitality and Catering Management, commented, “With these hot meals, we are expanding Onboard Delights and providing additional choices for passengers on longer intra-European routes. Pre-ordering guarantees that the desired meal will be available on board, enabling a relaxed and predictable journey.”
In Business Class on long-haul flights, Lufthansa will also allow passengers to pre-select their main course on most long-haul routes to Germany, increasing the number of options from three to six. Selections can be made from four weeks up to 24 hours before departure.
