The Bali provincial government will start collecting a ‘Tourism Contribution Fee’ from foreign tourists visiting Bali starting February 14.
The fee is set at 150,000 Indonesian Rupiah (approximately 1,410 yen) per person. Visitors are required to pay before arriving or during their trip via the ‘Love Bali’ system, which offers payment options such as credit card or bank transfer. The system is expected to be operational from February 9.
However, holders of diplomatic or service visas, KITAS, KITAP, family stay visas, student visas, golden visas, business visas, and transportation crew members will be exempt. Those who are exempt must apply through the system at least 5 days before arrival; otherwise, they will be subject to the fee.
Foreign tourists who do not pay the fee will face various actions, including verbal warnings, records in the system, notification to their respective embassies or consulates, denial of services at tourist sites, and requests for immigration control measures to the immigration bureau.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Denpasar is calling for caution against the emergence of fraudulent websites and expensive intermediaries.
