The Thai government will change the permitted length of stay under its short-term visa exemption program from September 15.
Nationals of 60 countries and regions, including Japan, will be permitted to stay for 30 days. These countries include some that previously required visas. Japanese nationals had been able to stay for 15 days without a visa.
In addition, travelers entering Thailand under the visa exemption program through immigration checkpoints at land borders will be limited to no more than two entries per year (January through December).
The measure was announced by Thailand’s Ministry of Interior on August 31 and published on the website of Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
