Japan Tourism Agency Launches Kyushu Recovery Support Discount
Nagasaki Prefecture will begin sales of the government-backed “Kyushu Reconstruction Support Discount” travel program during the week of September 14.
The Kyushu Reconstruction Support Discount applies to travel and accommodation products for trips of at least one night in the Kyushu region of Japan, offering a 50% discount on travel and accommodation costs. Kumamoto and Kagoshima prefectures, where cancellations have had a particularly significant impact on tourism, will offer a 60% discount.
The maximum discount is ¥20,000 per night for accommodation-only products and accommodation packages with transportation; ¥30,000 for transportation-inclusive accommodation packages of two nights or more; and ¥35,000 for multi-prefecture circuit travel products staying in two or more prefectures.
Sales and implementation periods differ by prefecture. In Nagasaki Prefecture, the program will cover stays from October 1 through December 25. Sales through online travel agencies will begin first.
