Etihad Airways and Etihad Rail, which develops and operates the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) national railway network, have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at creating a seamless air-rail travel experience.
The companies will explore the potential for a dedicated shuttle service to improve connections between Zayed International Airport and Mohamed bin Zayed City Station. They aim to facilitate transfers between the airport and the rail network and integrate journeys combining multiple modes of transportation. They will also consider developing an integrated air-and-rail booking experience and passenger services at stations.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, commented, “Through this partnership with Etihad Rail, we will explore new opportunities to connect air travel with destinations across the UAE, support tourism growth, enhance convenience for travelers, and contribute to Abu Dhabi’s long-term economic development.”
Azza Alsuwaidi, Chief Operating Officer of Etihad Rail, said, “Since launching passenger rail services earlier this year, Etihad Rail has strengthened its role as the national railway network connecting cities and regions across the UAE. The partnership with Etihad Airways marks a further step in strengthening cooperation between rail and air travel.”
