KLM Royal Dutch Airlines unveiled a new miniature Delft house, presented as a gift to World Business Class passengers, on October 7, the airline’s founding anniversary.
The 107th edition, commemorating the airline’s 106th anniversary, is modeled after a building at Wijnhoeve de Kleine Schorre winery in Zeeland Province, southwestern Netherlands.
Schouwen-Duiveland, where De Kleine Schorre is located, is considered challenging terrain for grape growing due to its heavy saline marine clay soil and strong sea winds. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines serves wines from De Kleine Schorre in Business Class each year from September through November.
Since the 1950s, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has given long-haul World Business Class passengers miniature houses containing Bols genever gin. Since the number of houses in the collection matched the airline’s founding year in 1994, a new edition has been added every year on its founding anniversary.
