Cathay Pacific: Amadeus System Breach Exposes Reservation Information
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will cut 5,000 jobs.
This represents approximately 15% of its total workforce. The airline will outsource the work of 4,000 employees, including those at KLM Catering Services, Ground Services, and its customer contact center, Cygnific. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will also reduce around 1,000 positions through productivity improvements.
The company aims to minimize the impact on employees through natural attrition, voluntary retirement programs, and transfers to other roles.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines says that, although shortages of pilots and maintenance technicians have largely been resolved, and it has outsourced operations such as catering and maintenance, reduced office space significantly through workforce reductions and not filling vacant positions, these measures remain insufficient.
