JAL Offers Sushi with Japanese Scallops in Lounge
Japan Airlines (JAL) has started offering sushi made with Japanese scallops at the “JAL First Class Lounge” on international flights, from January 15th.
This initiative is part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ project to promote the appeal of Japanese-produced foods to consumers abroad, utilizing airlines, among others. It aims to support the shift to new export destinations for Japanese seafood products, which have faced increased import restrictions in some countries and regions following the oceanic discharge of treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster.
The sushi is available at the JAL First Class Lounges at Haneda and Narita airports and will be offered until it runs out. The scallops have also been served as part of the in-flight meals on some routes and classes from December 2023 to February 2024.
