EVA Air will resume its Aomori-Taipei/Taoyuan route starting October 29th, marking the return of regular flights after being suspended since February 26, 2020, for about 4 years and 8 months.
The route was initially launched on July 17, 2019, utilizing an Airbus A321 with 8 business class and 176 economy seats for a total of 184 seats, operating between two to five round trips weekly. Despite the settling of the pandemic, regular flights had not seen a prospect of resuming, continuing operations as charter flights instead.
The recorded charter operations included 15 flights from April 13 to 27, 2023, 5 flights from October 19 to November 4, 2023, and 6 flights from January 15 to February 4, 2023, totaling 26 flights.
The resumed regular service will operate three round trips weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using the A321 aircraft. Aomori Prefecture Governor, Shuichiro Miyashita, commented, “With the resumption of the regular flights, we expect further exchanges between the two regions, resulting in significant ripple effects such as boosting apple exports and creating new business opportunities for the local economy.”
