Kansai Airport Returns to Profitability for First Time in Four Quarters
Kansai Airport has announced its interim financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2024 (April to September 2023). With the recovery of international flight demand, the company has returned to profitability for the first time in four quarters.
Operating revenue amounted to 85.4 billion yen (an increase of 44.2 billion yen compared to the same period last year), EBITDA was 35 billion yen (an increase of 25.4 billion yen), operating income was 13 billion yen (an increase of 25.1 billion yen), ordinary income reached 7.8 billion yen (an increase of 25.2 billion yen), and net income stood at 5.2 billion yen (an increase of 17.9 billion yen).
The combined number of takeoffs and landings at Kansai International Airport, Itami Airport, and Kobe Airport reached 167,000 (a 27% increase from the same period last year), with passenger numbers totaling 20.98 million (a 96% increase).
