The Rakuten Group has announced that the number of municipalities offering “Rakuten Travel Coupons” as a thank-you gift for donations made through its hometown tax donation portal site, “Rakuten Furusato Nozei,” has exceeded 500.
When you donate to one of the participating municipalities, a coupon worth 30% of the donation amount is granted a few days after payment on the “my coupon” page. This coupon can be used at “Rakuten Travel” for hotel reservations at eligible facilities. The coupons are valid for three years, and you can book your stay to check out within 180 days from the day following the coupon issuance date, with a limit of one coupon per reservation per member.
Donations to Kyoto Prefecture, Hakone Town in Kanagawa Prefecture, and Urayasu City in Chiba Prefecture are popular, with the number of eligible lodging facilities expanding to over 25,000. This year, Fukuoka City in Fukuoka Prefecture, Atami City in Shizuoka Prefecture, Hakone Town in Kanagawa Prefecture, Yokohama City in Kanagawa Prefecture, and Kusatsu Town in Gunma Prefecture have been added.
Furthermore, the system has been improved to allow coupons as thank-you gifts to be applied to already completed reservations made before the donation, and the design of the special page has also been changed.
