JR East to Operate Overnight Trains on 7 Lines in the Tokyo Area from New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day
Morning Services Suspended on Parts of Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen Lines
JR East and JR West have announced the suspension of services on parts of the Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines this morning due to equipment inspections.
The suspensions are a result of the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred around 4:10 PM yesterday. The Joetsu Shinkansen will be suspended between Echigo-Yuzawa and Niigata stations, and the Hokuriku Shinkansen will be suspended between Nagano and Kanazawa stations.
Furthermore, depending on the inspection results, there is a possibility that afternoon services will also be suspended. Passengers are urged to check the operation status before heading to the station, and to consider canceling or modifying their travel plans.
