JR East plans to gradually resume operations from around 1 PM on January 6 for the sections between Uchino and Niigata University Mae stations on the Echigo Line, which had been suspended due to the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
The operations had been suspended due to damage to the trackbed. After resuming operations, trains will be running at reduced speeds for the time being, which is expected to cause delays.
Between Kashiwazaki and Echigo-Akatsuka stations, as well as between Sekiya and Niigata stations, trains will run on both tracks from the first service of the day, although there will be cancellations, delays, and changes to the number of cars in operation.
