Royal Brunei Airlines has placed an order for four Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The announcement was made at the Singapore Airshow, being held at the Changi Exhibition Centre, adjacent to Singapore Changi International Airport.
The new aircraft will join the fleet of five Boeing 787-8s currently in operation. Royal Brunei Airlines was the first airline in Southeast Asia to introduce Boeing 787 aircraft, with routes to Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and United Kingdom.
The Boeing 787-9 aircraft can seat 20% more passengers compared to the Boeing 787-8, and has the capability to fly up to 14,010 kilometers, catering to increasing demand for medium to long-haul routes.
According to Boeing’s commercial outlook, there is an expected demand for approximately 4,300 aircraft in Southeast Asia over the next 20 years.
