Ethiopian Airlines is set to introduce up to 20 Boeing 777X aircraft.
The airline has ordered eight Boeing 777-9 aircraft and agreed on options for 12 more. This marks the first order of Boeing 777X in Africa. It updates the previous announcement in 2023, which included orders for 11 Boeing 787 and 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The 777-9 will improve our operational performance and commitment to environmental sustainability, offering more flexibility, lower fuel consumption, and reduced carbon emissions. We are grateful for Boeing’s longstanding partnership and support, and we eagerly anticipate seeing the 777-9 fly across the skies of Africa and the world.”
Ethiopian Airlines currently owns 29 Boeing 787, 20 Boeing 777, 3 Boeing 767, 27 Boeing 737NG, and 15 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with more than half of its fleet comprising Boeing aircraft.
