Sanyo Electric Railway, along with Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Visa Worldwide Japan, Minato Card, JCB, Nippon Signal, and QUADRAC, will support rail travel via touch payment-compatible credit cards across all Sanyo Electric Railway lines starting in the spring of 2025.
Users will be able to enter and exit by touching their card or smartphone against a newly installed dedicated reader at the ticket gates. The supported brands will include Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay. Mastercard will be added in sequence. The introduction is being made with an eye towards the 2025 Osaka-Kansai World Expo.
