Japan’s Foreign Ministry Issues Travel Advisory for North Korea Ahead of Soccer Match
The Japanese Foreign Ministry has issued a travel advisory urging for restraint on travel to North Korea.
This comes in light of the FIFA World Cup 26 Asia Round 2 qualifier match between Japan and North Korea to be held in Pyongyang on March 26. While the ministry is not specifically requesting travel restraint for journalists accompanying the delegation, others are advised not to travel.
In April 2017, considering North Korea’s repeated nuclear tests and ballistic missile launches, as part of sanctions measures, Japan’s Foreign Ministry requested restraint on travel to North Korea, regardless of purpose.
