Juneyao Airlines has inaugurated its Shanghai/Pudong to Athens route on April 2.
The service operates three round trips per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flights use Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The flight duration from Shanghai/Pudong is 12 hours, and from Athens is 10 hours and 5 minutes.
This is the first direct flight service between the two cities. Compared to connecting flights, the travel time is reduced by about four hours. It is also possible to connect from Japan, requiring more than two hours of transfer time in Shanghai/Pudong.
