Rakuten Group to Integrate Three Payment and Point Apps
Rakuten Payment is set to integrate three of Rakuten Group’s payment and point apps.
By December, the “Rakuten Point Card” and “Rakuten Pay” apps will be integrated. Following this, the “Rakuten Edy” app will also be integrated.
This will strengthen Rakuten Group’s role as the gateway to its fintech services. Plans are also in place to incorporate major functions of the “Rakuten Card” app and other fintech services of Rakuten in the future.
Additionally, from this summer “Rakuten Pay” app’s point rebate program will be revamped. The grant of points for charging Rakuten Cash from a Rakuten Card will be stopped, and points will be awarded at the time of payment using Rakuten Cash. Previously, a 0.5% grant was offered for specific charging methods, and up to 1% at the time of payment. Following the refresh, up to 1.5% will be granted combining the charge and payment.
