Hotel Okura Forms Comprehensive Partnership with Thailand’s Asset World Corporation: Launching a Hotel in Chiang Mai and Cruises on the Chao Phraya River

Hotel Okura has entered into a comprehensive partnership with Thailand’s major integrated lifestyle real estate group, Asset World Corporation (AWC).

The two companies had previously collaborated in 2012 to open The Okura Prestige Bangkok. As part of the “Lanna Teak Project” ongoing in Chiang Mai for 2028, they plan to open a hotel under the Okura brand. Furthermore, they aim to develop hotels in major cities including Bangkok by 2030, adding approximately 500 rooms and expanding their portfolio to over 2,000 rooms.

Additionally, AWC is planning to operate cruise ships on the Chao Phraya River, which flows through the heart of Bangkok, with Hotel Okura providing the service. The cruise, to be named “Okura Cruise,” will feature a design inspired by the Japanese traditional culture of origami and the symbolic representations of longevity, the crane, and the turtle, in an abstract geometric pattern.

Hotel Okura operates 150 hotels worldwide, with a plan to have half of them located overseas. To enhance its international presence, it has set a target of opening five hotels in five specific countries/regions, known as the “5×5 (Five by Five) plan.”
