JAL Celebrates 70th Anniversary of International Flights with Pure Gold Medal Offer for 360,000 Miles
Japan Airlines (JAL) is accepting lottery applications for a special pure gold medal commemorating the 70th anniversary of its international flights from June 10 to June 30 under its ‘JAL’s exceptional items’ campaign.
The medal features the aircraft design of a DC-6B, which operated the first post-war international service between Tokyo, Honolulu, and San Francisco in February 1954, on its face, and the iconic JAL crane logo on its reverse side. Made entirely of pure gold, the medal measures approximately 20 mm in size and weighs 10 grams.
The medal can be exchanged for miles from JAL Mileage Bank, requiring 360,000 miles. Withdrawals will be around mid-July, with shipments planned from August onwards.
In February, JAL also offered a pure gold medal commemorating the deployment of the Airbus A350-1000, which required 300,000 miles for exchange.
The retail price of gold by Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry had increased from 9,779 yen per gram in February to 11,880 yen in May.
