Sendai International Airport to Eliminate Parking Gates and Tickets, Introduce New Rates
Sendai International Airport will eliminate its parking gate bars and parking tickets starting July 29, and introduce a new pricing scheme.
The first parking area will be divided into three sections, and together with the second parking area, 150 more parking spaces will be added. Prepayment machines and app payments will also be available, including credit card tap payments and barcode payments. By pre-registering vehicle and credit card information on the app, future entries will not require manual data entry.
The pricing will be introduced in three tiers, including normal, busy, and busiest periods. Normal periods are from Tuesday to Thursday, busy periods are from Friday to Monday, and the busiest periods include long weekends, irregular consecutive holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, Golden Week, and the Obon holiday season. Long-term parking discounts have been revised, expanding the discount eligibility. Additionally, the second parking area will introduce a free parking period and a monthly subscription fee.
Parking before July 28 and exiting after 12:00 AM on July 29 will require payment of the old rates with a parking ticket. With the introduction of the new system, the double miles service with ANA and JAL cards will be discontinued.
