Vandalism on Multiple High-Speed TGV Routes and Eurostar Service Reduction

According to the French National Railway Company (SNCF), since the morning of July 26, several high-speed TGV routes have experienced vandalism, causing significant disruptions including service cancellations.

Recovery for the affected routes is expected after July 29, and passengers are advised to postpone their TGV travels if possible. Routes connecting Paris with Lille, Bordeaux, and Strasbourg, among others, have seen their signaling equipment damaged due to fire.

This issue also affects the Eurostar, the high-speed train connecting London with Paris, Brussels, and beyond. At St. Pancras station in London, the departure board displayed cancellations for nearly half of the trains. Due to the affected high-speed line connecting Paris and Lille, a 25% reduction in services has been announced until July 28, with rerouting expected to extend travel time by up to an hour and a half.
