SAS and BRA Reach Long-term Wet Lease Agreement
Scandinavian Airlines and Braathens Regional Airlines have agreed on a long-term wet lease agreement.
The contract period is from January 1, 2025, for a duration of seven years. The contract value is approximately 6 billion Swedish Krona. Braathens Regional Airlines will operate domestic flights within Sweden for Scandinavian Airlines, as well as some routes to and from Copenhagen, based out of Stockholm/Arlanda. This aims to improve regional services and enhance connectivity.
Braathens Regional Airlines currently covers half of its operational scale through leases with travel agencies and other airlines and also operates scheduled domestic flights from Stockholm/Bromma. Although the demand for scheduled flights has decreased compared to pre-COVID, the rising demand for leases has led to the decision to cease scheduled flight operations in December.
Per G. Braathen, the chairman of the board for Braathens Regional Airlines, commented, “Our partnership with Scandinavian Airlines means taking responsibility for Sweden’s aviation infrastructure while strengthening our business in the long term and securing employment despite the challenging domestic aviation market.”
