The Ankai Coast Railway will temporarily suspend operations across the entire Ansa Higashi Line, which operates the DMV, starting October 3, for an indefinite period.
The suspension comes after a minor defect was discovered in a part during a routine inspection of one vehicle, prompting a comprehensive inspection of all vehicles to ensure safety. This line operates the DMV, which can run both on railway tracks and as a bus, connecting Awa Kainan Bunkamura to Roadside Station Kinosaki Hot Springs on weekdays, and Awa Kainan Bunkamura to Sea Station Toromu on weekends and holidays.
Alternative transportation is being provided through regular buses and substitute jumbo taxis, operating between JR Awa Kainan Station and Sea Station Toyo Town. This service connects with the JR Mugi Line at JR Awa Kainan Station and with the Kochi Eastern Bus towards Muroto at Sea Station Toyo Town.
