Singapore Airlines Introduces First Class on Airbus A350 Aircraft
Singapore Airlines is refreshing the seats on its long-haul and ultra-long-haul Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
The project will involve 41 aircraft with an investment of 1.1 billion Singapore dollars. The ultra-long-haul Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft, numbering seven, will be equipped with first-class seats for the first time.
The first-class seats are designed with the discerning traveler in mind, establishing “a new industry standard for the world’s longest journeys.” These first-class seats, along with business class, will be the same as those planned for the Boeing 777-9 aircraft, further enhancing privacy, comfort, and convenience. New in-flight entertainment screens will also be installed.
The premium economy and economy classes will also see seat upgrades, and the next version of the in-flight entertainment system, “KrisWorld,” will offer more personalized lifestyle options across all classes.
The long-haul configuration will feature 42 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 192 economy class seats, while the ultra-long-haul configuration will have 4 first-class seats, 70 business class seats, and 58 premium economy seats.
Goh Choon Phong, CEO, stated, “Over the past six years, we have extensively involved our customers and stakeholders in designing the next-generation in-flight products for long-haul routes, anticipating evolving customer preferences and expectations in every detail. The new seat designs for first and business class incorporate thoughtful elements that push the boundaries of comfort, luxury, and modernity, allowing passengers to relax or work with ease. Passengers in premium economy and economy can also look forward to a refreshed cabin interior that enriches the travel experience. Our investment of 1.1 billion Singapore dollars in refurbishing 41 A350 aircraft reaffirms Singapore Airlines’ unwavering commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience. The introduction of these next-generation seats and ‘KrisWorld’ sets new benchmarks in innovation, customer experience, and service excellence, alongside our world-renowned cabin crew’s warm and personalized service.”
The refurbishment will take place at Singapore’s SIA Engineering, with the first aircraft in the long-haul configuration set to enter service in the second quarter of 2026, and the first ultra-long haul aircraft in the first quarter of 2027.
Details on the cabin services and the latest version of “KrisWorld” will be revealed closer to the introduction of the Boeing 777-9 and refurbished Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
