JR East to Operate Overnight Trains on 7 Lines in the Tokyo Area from New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day
In-Train Sales on Express Trains ‘Okhotsk’ and ‘Taisetsu’ Featuring Daimaru Selected Products
Hokkaido, JR Hokkaido, and Daimaru Sapporo Store will start in-train sales on the express trains ‘Okhotsk’ and ‘Taisetsu’ from January 10, 2025.
The service targets trains operated with the ‘Lavender Formation’ vehicles introduced with the support of the government and Hokkaido. As part of a demonstration project aimed at increasing the use of express and tourist trains by improving the in-train environment, this effort is organized by Hokkaido and carried out with the cooperation of JR Hokkaido and Daimaru Sapporo Store. This marks the second phase of the initiative following a previous summer edition, with a focus on assessing its impact among business users, among others.
Daimaru Sapporo Store will offer selected Hokkaido specialty sweets, delicacies, soft drinks and alcohol related to Hokkaido, and light meals chosen by the department store’s buyers.
Sales hours will last until departure from Memanbetsu Station for downbound trains, and until departure from Iwamizawa Station for Sapporo-bound trains and until departure from Kamikawa Station for Asahikawa-bound trains. In-train announcements will be made at the beginning and end of the sales period. The sales counter is located in Car No. 1.
