ANA Launches ‘EXPO 2025 ANA JET’ in Celebration of the Expo, offering ‘Aquafresh’ to Passengers on Inaugural Flight
All Nippon Airways (ANA) launched a special livery aircraft, the ‘EXPO 2025 ANA JET’ (Boeing 737-800, registration: JA58AN), on domestic flights on December 12th to commemorate the Osaka-Kansai Expo. The first flight, NH991, was from Tokyo/Haneda to Osaka/Kansai, and a reveal ceremony was held at Haneda Airport Terminal 2 to coincide with the departure.
The aircraft’s design was handled by KUZE DESIGN, the same design firm responsible for the ‘ANA Future Promise Jet’ (Boeing 787-8, registration: JA874A and Boeing 787-9, registration: JA871A). The design features red, blue, and gray stripes representing the Expo, along with ANA’s corporate colors, Mohican Blue and Triton Blue, painted on the sides of the fuselage to express the feeling of soaring into the future on the wind. About 140 decals were used on both sides, and the application work was done by Evergreen Aviation Technologies Corporation (EGAT) in Taiwan from November 10th to December 10th.
Inside the aircraft, original stickers are distributed to interested passengers. From around February 2025, aprons for cabin attendants and paper cups for drinks designed collaboratively by a designer with intellectual disabilities and KUZE DESIGN will be available. Additionally, from late December, ANA Group airport staff and cabin crew, both domestic and international, will wear pin badges of the Expo’s official character ‘Myaku-Myaku’ to help generate excitement.
ANA Wings is responsible for the operation, and the aircraft will be deployed on various domestic routes in line with the Expo period until early October 2025.
At the reveal ceremony, ANA President Shinichi Inoue and ANA Wings President Kiyoshi Ejima were in attendance. Myaku-Myaku, the special guest, also participated, marking the inauguration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
ANA’s President Inoue, who visited the Osaka Expo as a sixth-grade student in 1970, shared his memories: “I was struck by how many different ethnicities exist in this world. The Expo is a place where countries from around the world come together to share the future. I hope this Expo will be a trigger for the youth, like me back in the day, to develop an interest in the world and hope for the future.”
The inaugural NH991 flight was used by 159 passengers (including two infants), departing from spot 61 at 1:31 PM and taking off from Runway 05 (RWY05) at 1:48 PM.
The design of the EXPO 2025 ANA JET has been noted on social media for its resemblance to the toothpaste ‘Aquafresh’, even mentioned by the product’s official account as having a ‘familiar design’. Triggered by this, Haleon Japan, the manufacturer and seller, provided samples of the product, which were distributed to passengers on the first flight.
