RNT Hotels announces the partial reopening of the “Richmond Hotel Sendai” on December 28.
The concept is “Sendai ‘Zen’ Style.” The guest rooms feature green fabrics, inspired by Sendai, the city of trees. The sauna floor on the 10th floor of the main building, consisting of 9 rooms, is scheduled to open after 2025.
Around the hotel, interior designs and artworks utilizing local Sendai materials such as zelkova wood, Akiu stones, Shiroishi washi paper, and Sendai-hei are displayed. The hotel divides its space into the main building (formally the main floor) and the annex (formally the comfort floor), catering to different scenarios. In the main building, a “Family Lounge” and a “Kids Space” have been introduced, whereas an annex for a “Business Lounge” is planned to be established post-2025, creating a usage of guest rooms and public spaces that meets the varied needs and purposes of travel. The “Kids Space” has areas where infants can play, a city area, and a country area built with giant blocks, with a path resembling an avenue of zelkova trees symbolizing the city of trees in between. The flooring utilizes cork material from peeling cork oak bark, offering a gentle walking experience, high shock absorption, and durability.
