JR East Temporarily Suspends Services Between Ōdate and Hirosaki Stations on the Ōu Main Line Due to Heavy Snow

JR East has announced a temporary suspension of train services between Ōdate and Hirosaki stations on the Ōu Main Line.

The suspension comes as a result of numerous fallen trees and damage to facilities caused by heavy snowfall. The company will announce the resumption of services as soon as a forecast becomes available. There will be no alternative transportation provided by bus or otherwise.

For those who have purchased tickets for the affected trains on the ‘Ekinet’ website, including the limited express ‘Tsugaru’ and ‘Super Tsugaru’ for all sections, and are canceling their trips due to the heavy snow in the Akita and Aomori regions, refunds will be offered without a cancellation fee. The eligible travel dates are from January 2nd to January 6th.

Additionally, as of 12:30 PM on January 5th, services between Hirosaki and Shin-Aomori stations on the same line will also be suspended at least until the evening due to heavy snow. The snow accumulation between Daisakusen and Tsugaru-Shinkiro stations is significant, and there is currently no forecast for when services can be resumed.
