Series of Robbery Incidents at Night in Vientiane, Laos – Several Japanese Victims
The Japanese Embassy in Laos has issued a warning about a series of robbery incidents occurring at night in the capital city of Vientiane, noting that several Japanese individuals have fallen victim.
These incidents involve pedestrians in downtown Vientiane being suddenly approached by two men on a motorcycle, who then brandish a handgun and demand valuables. There have been instances where victims, upon resisting, were threatened with weapons resembling axes. It’s considered that foreigners, including Japanese nationals, could be targeted.
The Japanese Embassy in Laos advises against walking outside at night as much as possible and to consider vehicular transport even for short distances.
