TOKI Air to Resume Operations of Its Second Aircraft from January 21 After Maintenance in Tainan
TOKI Air announced plans to resume operations of its second aircraft (model ATR72-600, registration number: JA02QQ) from January 21. The announcement was made during a press conference.
The aircraft was struck by lightning during a flight from Niigata to Nagoya/Chubu on December 15. It was air transported to Niigata Airport on December 19, where maintenance continued. The aircraft was then air transported to Air Asia in Tainan, Taiwan, on January 13 to begin repair work. If repair works progress smoothly, the aircraft is expected to be air transported back to Niigata by January 20 and resume operations from the following day, January 21. The suspension of operations of two aircraft affected 3,500 passengers.
The first aircraft (same model, registration number: JA01QQ), which was found to have damage to its de-icing system on January 6, has resumed operations from today, January 15.
Moreover, the third aircraft, which has been air transported to Naha Airport, is expected to start service by the end of March, in line with the summer schedule.
