JAL and Garuda Indonesia to Launch Joint Business on April 1
Japan Airlines (JAL) and Garuda Indonesia will initiate a joint business starting April 1.
The two airlines obtained approval for exemption from the antitrust law in August 2024 and have been preparing for the joint business. They will launch a new code-sharing operation on 34 routes within Indonesia operated by Garuda Indonesia and domestic routes in Japan operated by JAL.
Moreover, members can earn and use miles mutually. JAL Mileage Bank status members can earn bonus miles according to their status even when using Garuda Indonesia’s Japan-Indonesia routes.
To commemorate the start of the joint business, special fares have been set. The lowest round-trip fare from Japan is from 66,000 yen to Jakarta and from 72,000 yen to Denpasar. The booking period is from March 7 to 13, and the boarding period is from April 1.
JAL operates a maximum of two round trips per day on the Tokyo/Narita-Jakarta route, while Garuda Indonesia operates one round trip each on the Tokyo/Haneda-Jakarta route and the Tokyo/Narita-Denpasar route.
