Narita International Airport Starts Construction of B Runway Extension and New C Runway
Narita International Airport has reopened the central square in front of the second parking building adjacent to Terminal 2 as “NRT Central Square Popo Park.”
To enhance childcare support for airport staff, a wide playground dedicated to the on-site nursery room “Tanpopo” has been developed, providing a safe and spacious environment for play. The playground area is approximately 500 square meters and can host sports days, which were previously held outside the airport.
Within the square, areas for relaxation, a park area, an event stage, and space for kitchen cars have been developed, offering a resting place for not only airport staff but also local residents and airport users.
With the addition of pergolas, tables, chairs, and greenery, the space allows for various ways to enjoy the area, and multiple play equipment have been installed. The edge of the event stage is developed as a seating space usable daily. The space can accommodate two kitchen cars.
