Atout France held a press conference on April 15 with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Tourism Board.
In the opening remarks, Christelle Chassagne, President of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Tourism Board, stated, “To address climate change and a rapidly changing world, we are promoting ecotourism and aiming for a model of sustainable tourism. We wish to support travel that respects ecosystems and aims for decarbonization, while transitioning to eco-friendly tourism together with visitors.”
Located in the southwest of France, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region is accessible not only from within France but also from various European countries. Bordeaux, famous for its wine, can be reached from Paris via the TGV high-speed train in just two hours. Bordeaux is recognized as the “number one sustainable tourist destination in France, and sixth in the world.”
Additionally, the giant tapestry that recreates Hayao Miyazaki’s films, displayed in the French Pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, was woven at the International Tapestry Center in Aubusson, whose representatives visited Japan for the occasion.
