Japan Airlines (JAL) and Hokkaido Air System (HAC) began full-scale operation of the “JAL SMART AIRPORT” at Sapporo Okadama Airport in April.
They reviewed and reorganized the layout of the first-floor counters to secure a larger space, and installed a “Special Assistance Counter” on the second floor. They also introduced self-service check-in machines with baggage tag issuing functions and baggage claim ticket issuing machines, as well as automated gates in front of the second-floor security checkpoint. Smart lanes are also scheduled to be introduced within this fiscal year.
