Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) has launched the Yakushiji Temple edition as the 9th installment of its “Iza Iza Nara” tourism campaign, which focuses on the Nara area in Japan.
In the TV commercial that began airing on April 1 in the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Shizuoka region, actor Ryohei Suzuki appears and introduces uniquely Nara experiences that can only be enjoyed on-site, such as the “tendoku” sutra-chanting ritual and sutra copying at Yakushiji Temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; traditional Japanese sweets from Kashiya, a wagashi shop in the Naramachi district; and live grand piano performances at Noborioji Hotel.
Through the “EX Tabisaki Yoyaku” (EX Destination Booking) service, JR Central is offering special local experience plans, including a Buddhist sermon by Deputy Chief Priest Tetsujo Otani of Yakushiji Temple, a course of freshly made wagashi at Kashiya, and a French dinner course at “Le Bois,” the restaurant of Noborioji Hotel.
