ANA Introduces Cooling Fan Vests for Ground Handling Staff and Mechanics as a Measure Against the Scorching Summer Heat
Japan Airlines (JAL) has signed a 10-year maintenance and overhaul contract with GE Aerospace for avionics system support on its Boeing 787 aircraft.
The contract was signed at GE Aerospace’s facility in Brisbane, Australia. This is the first time that GE Aerospace has concluded a customer support contract for avionics systems with a Japanese airline.
GE Aerospace’s Brisbane maintenance base will be responsible for repair services and inventory provisioning for the avionics systems installed on Boeing 787 aircraft operated by the JAL Group. Program management and parts support will be led by GE Aerospace in Singapore, leveraging its maintenance capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region to support JAL’s operations. GE Aerospace is also the OEM for the common core system and related avionics systems on the Boeing 787 aircraft covered by the agreement.
JAL currently operates 117 widebody aircraft, centered on its Boeing 787 fleet, including 53 aircraft powered by GE Aerospace’s GEnx-1B engines. The Boeing 787 serves as JAL’s main aircraft type for international routes, and the long-term maintenance contract will strengthen a stable maintenance framework for the fleet.
