Hyatt and Delta Air Lines Announce Long-Term Strategic Partnership
Japan Airlines (JAL) will standardize its Business Class inflight meal service style from September 1 on routes to the United States (excluding Hawaii and Guam), Europe, the Middle East, and Sydney.
Under the service style that was introduced first on New York routes from March and on Los Angeles and Paris routes from June, two set meals will, in principle, be served to all passengers, except on certain flights such as those departing late at night. À la carte items will be available as snacks until the second meal is served, although the number of menu items and serving hours will be reduced from before.
Comparing the August à la carte menu with the September snack menu, items no longer available on flights departing Japan include “Shirasu and Spicy Pollock Roe Rice Bowl,” “Short Pasta with Toasted Garlic,” and “Beef Curry.” On flights departing Frankfurt, the range of sandwiches has been reduced to one type, while items such as Chef Hayashi’s “Colorful Chirashi Sushi” and “Hokkaido Kidney Bean Curry” have been discontinued.
Regarding the changes, JAL commented: “Based on the feedback we receive from our customers and their increasingly diverse needs, we continuously review our services to provide a more comfortable journey in the sky. As part of these efforts, we have renewed the service style in Business Class on long-haul routes from March 2026. To help all customers make the most of their time after arriving at their destination, we have changed the second meal to a set-menu style that can be enjoyed by all customers. Accordingly, we have repositioned the à la carte menu as snacks and will offer a carefully selected range of items. The renewal began in March on some long-haul routes, and the transition to the new service style was completed on all long-haul routes from September 1. There will be no change to the service style in First Class, where the à la carte menu will continue to offer the same number of items as last year.”
JAL Business Class has earned a strong reputation for its wide variety of à la carte inflight meal options on long-haul routes to Europe and North America, among other destinations.
