Why JR East Entered the Vending Machine Business in UK Stations: The Popularity of ¥600 Peach Juice
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) will introduce special rates for the “Shinkansen e-Ticket (JRE POINT Reward)” program.
The applicable travel periods are three separate windows: from June 22 to July 6, from September 25 to October 9, and from January 18 to January 31, 2027. The required number of points will be discounted by 35% from the usual rate, and all trains and all sections where this product is offered will be eligible. Applicable seat types are reserved seats in Ordinary Cars, reserved seats in Green Cars, and Gran Class (without drinks and light meals). The number of points required for adults and children is the same.
Examples of required points include: between Tokyo and Sendai Stations, 6,000 points for a reserved seat in an Ordinary Car, 8,500 points for a reserved seat in a Green Car, and 10,500 points for Gran Class (without drinks and light meals). Between Tokyo and Nagano Stations, a reserved seat in an Ordinary Car requires 4,500 points, while between Tokyo and Shin-Aomori Stations, a reserved seat in an Ordinary Car requires 9,000 points.
Applications will be accepted via Ekinet, and point redemption will be available from 10:00 a.m. one month prior to the boarding date until 4 minutes before the train’s departure on the day of travel, but no later than 11:24 p.m. Same-period limited points cannot be used for redemption, and the Ekinet advance request service will not be offered.
