Korean Air and Delta Air Lines expanded their “Seamless Baggage Transfer Service” as of June 23.
This service utilizes the International Remote Baggage Screening (IRBS) system, under which the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) pre-screens baggage data scanned at Seoul/Incheon before the aircraft lands. As a result, passengers no longer need to pick up and re-check their baggage during connections, and can proceed directly to the boarding gate.
The newly added routes are from Seoul/Incheon to Seattle and Los Angeles. In addition, flights from Seoul/Incheon to Minneapolis, Detroit, and Atlanta are also covered by the service.
The service was first launched on the Seoul/Incheon–Atlanta route in August 2025, and has reportedly reduced the need for customs processing at the airport by more than 65 percent, while enabling the majority of passengers to make their planned connecting flights even in the event of arrival delays.
