In addition to confirming an order for 18 Airbus A330-900 aircraft, the airline will also introduce Airbus A330-300 aircraft to support short-term growth ahead of the arrival of the new fleet. The total value of the order placed with Airbus exceeds 1 billion US dollars, making it the largest aircraft order in Scandinavian Airlines’ history.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Anko van der Werff said, “This is the largest investment in our history and a clear signal of our strong confidence in the future. At the same time, the analysis we are presenting today shows the broader value of international access. Strong global links create opportunities for business, support employment, attract investment, and strengthen the competitiveness of the entire region.”
Toward 2030, Copenhagen Airport in Denmark is planning a major expansion. According to analysis by Scandinavian Airlines, this could create an additional 25,000 jobs and lead to enhanced access from the entire Scandinavian Peninsula to the rest of the world.
